New Feature Request – ZIP documents before sending by email

I have customers asking for a feature to ZIP documents together before sending them to mail recipients.

 I have looked for that feature using Laserfiche client V10.1 and WebAccess V10.1 and did not find that feature. 

I think this feature should be present in the Email screen where we see all files to be sent. The following should be present:

- adding a checkbox that will activate zipping of the files,

- a field to provide the ZIP filename,

- also possibly an option to add a password

- and probably some sort of mechanism that will limit the size of the ZIP file (that Zip file size could be set by users),

- or a mecanism that will create multiple zip files if total size exceeds email limit.

Let me know if Laserfiche needs additional input on this.

Password protection is available when the user selects documents to email. Files exceeding the limit are not currently split into multiple zips.

We use this feature a lot, but one thing we've had requests for is the ability to rename the zip file before it's attached to the email. "Laserfiche Documents.zip" can be confusing for recipients - they have no idea what "Laserfiche" is, and renaming after the attachment is in the email pretty much negates the efficiency you get creating the email and zip attachments straight from Laserfiche.

Hey Miruna, did this ever make it into the software? I still don't see an option for this in LF 11?

Thanks Miruna for this information.  I didn't look at the User Option screen.

If I may add, the only backdraw of this setting being in the "User Option", is that it will always do it or not.  This would be a good thing to bring this to the email preparation screen to let users choose on a per transmission basis.

You can. The Email Options button in the Email Documents dialog in both the Client and WA allows you to change it each time. So, if that's how you want to use it, it basically just remembers the settings from last time.
