Question

Forms start a workflow business Process

asked on June 1, 2016

Hi,

I got into situation which is undocumented so far. I have a form business process which after several user approvals starts a workflow to get some metadata approvals. Workflow has "Started by Laserfiche Forms" checked in its properties. Everything looks good at this stage.

After that i wanted to implement Business Process Step information as its a long process back and forth between forms approval and LF client metadata approval so that user wont get lost. for this to work i made the same workflow that was being kick off by forms a Business Process.

Now problems started happening. If Start this business process is unchecked forms doesn't start the workflow and gives error

The call to Laserfiche Workflow API was not successful. (The workflow must be a business process. [0735-WF1]). [LFF5203-WFServerApiFault]

But when i check this option, still business process steps are not written even though workflow is running perfectly fine. it shows in the search that it went through it successfully and shows that in the Business process tab but in "Business Process Details" in client nothing is there.

If i manually start this business process workflow on a entry on which forms was suppose to call. In that case Business Process Steps are available.

This is an unexpected behavior.

Could some one please provide a solution so that i could start a business process from forms.

Thanks

Have you tried logging out of the Client and back in?

What do you mean by "still business process steps are not written"?

When i click on "Business process Details" this is what i see, even though workflow which is a business process is currently running on it.

but when i manually run the workflow i can see steps written here as they are suppose to.

Forms does not set starting entries when it starts a workflow. Where do your entries come from?

Workflow is creating a new word document and those business process steps are supposed to be on that document, so there are no starting entries involved in this process.

we are attaching business process to the entry during workflow.

I just had to log back in. That was it.

Yes, it's a Client bug with newly published business processes. We'll address it for next version.
