Email changed to CJK characters when sending document in email

asked on May 24, 2016

When I send an email from Laserfiche it sends it with all the text as Chinese (or some form of CJK character set).

Here are the steps to reproduce the issue...

  1. Select a document and select "Email" (this can be done from anywhere)
  2. Choose "Send as files" and check "Use Microsoft Outlook..."
  3. Once email opens go to "Format Text" tab and change the format from Plain Text to HTML.
  4. Send the email
  5. Look in your sent items and the email is in CJK character set.

I am using Web Access v10.1.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Looks like Web Access is using a text encoding that causes Outlook to get confused when switching to html format. I don't think there is currently any workaround other than to leave the message in plain text. We will look into fixing this in a future version (bug reference# 144578).

I can't leave it in Plain Text because I am required to put a signature on all emails that requires HTML.

For now I guess I will have to continue using the workaround I have been using; instead of using the Email option I use the Download option and just store the document on the hard drive, and then put it in a email from there.  Not as convenient but it is what it is.  Thanks for the response.
