Workflow Issue

asked on May 20, 2016 Show version history

Hello.......

Workflow task:

On Create Entry, move the document from the drop folder into another folder obscured from the general user…..VERY simple.

The issue:

Workflow fails to start when an entry is created in the production drop folder by a certain user…..me.  So far, other users have no problem…when they drop their file, the workflow moves it.  I am an Admin so I don’t believe it’s a permissions issue.

I have a copy of this workflow that works correctly for me when I am in our sandbox repo.  The difference is the starting rule specifies the sandbox repo instead of production.  I drop the file in the sandbox and workflow moves it to the designated location.

When I use the Laserfiche Live Event viewer, I am able to see my document created in the drop folder regardless of repository.

When I use the Subscriber Trace Log, the Entry Create event never appears when I create a document in production…so WF never starts....but Entry Create does show up when I create the entry in the sandbox.

Furthermore, no events show up for me in the STL when I am in the production repo.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve burned a log of sawdust trying to figure out why the WF works for me in the sandbox but not in production.

Software versions:

LF Server 9.0.2.671

Client 9.0.3.798

Workflow 9.0.2.245

Thanks for suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Can you show us your exact starting rules for both?  Sounds like maybe you have a 'user does not equal Admin' rule on the production one maybe.  But the create entry should appear in the log unless the subscriber is not monitoring that repository.

Hi Chris...

I have taken the liberty to change the repository names for these examples.

The starting rules are:

SandBox repo:

Starting Event: Entry Created
Run workflow on the entry that was created

If all of these conditions are true
Entry : Path equals \Pcard\Pcard drop box
        Entry : Type equals Document
        Repository equals Sandbox
        User does not equal SA_WF

For production:

Starting Event: Entry Created
Run workflow on the entry that was created

If all of these conditions are true
Entry : Path equals \PURC-Procurement Card Program\PCARD Expense Report Drop Box
        Entry : Type equals Document
        Repository equals Production
        User does not equal SA_WF

Any chance you are logged in as SA_WF when testing? Did you try looking in the Subscriber Trace to see how the event was evaluated?

Hi Miruna.....

I have desktop shortcuts using command line parameters to autolog me into the target repository using my AD cred...

As I stated in my original post...

"When I use the Laserfiche Live Event viewer, I am able to see my document created in the drop folder regardless of repository.

When I use the Subscriber Trace Log, the Entry Create event never appears when I create a document in production…so WF never starts....but Entry Create does show up when I create the entry in the sandbox.

Furthermore, no events show up for me in the STL when I am in the production repo."

....needless to say, I never see my Create Entry action activity show up for evaluation by the workflow when it occurs in the production repository.

Thanks....

Dennis
