New Fujitsu Scanners and PaperStreamIP (Fujitsu FI-7280)

asked on May 19, 2016

We are currently looking at replacing some of our older Fujitsu scanners with newer models.  However, we see that Kofax has been replaced by PaperStreamIP.  Up until now, we have not needed ScanConnect to use our Fujitsu scanners as Kofax worked well.

I was wondering what recent experience people have had using the new Fujitsu scanners.  Are we going to start needing to buy ScanConnect to get them to work correctly?

Our desktop team is looking at purchasing a Fujitsu FI-7280.  Has anyone gotten that model working well?

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated so we can make a more informed decision moving forward.

Jonathan,

I don't have any experience with the Fujitsu's, but I do have recent experience with Canons, Lexmarks, and Sharps. Many of our customers are set up with a standalone Canon copier that has an address book entry for an Import Agent or QuickFields Agent directory. Then the users just have to put their documents in, press the "Scan to Laserfiche" button on the front of the copier, and everything's taken care of automatically. The Canon just drops the TIFs or JPGs into a network share, often taking some of the processing load for things like page rotation and deskewing, and Import/QuickFields Agent takes it away from there.

PaperStreamIP supports TWAIN, so you shouldn't have any trouble using those scanners. I cannot remember the last time I had any issues with TWAIN misbehaving.
