Process Diagram Won't Load

asked on May 18, 2016

I've a series of forms with an associated process diagram. Suddenly the diagram will no longer load.

  • In Firefox I get the message:
  • In Chrome:
    • The following page has become unresponsive. You can wait for it to become responsive or kill it. Process Diagram | Laserfiche Forms
  • In Microsoft Edge:
    • Laserfiche is not responding due to a long-running script.

I've attached a screenshot of the page, which is pretty much how it looks in all three browsers. I'm able to access the forms themselves just fine.

Has anyone experienced this, or know how to resolve/restore the affected process model/page?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

We've fixed the issue with the business process that you provided. You can get in touch with your VAR and they can get the file for you from the support case we created. If you'd like me to send you the file directly, I can email it to you or provide it to you through some other means.

Hi Michael,

This is an issue that has been reported a few times already. We're investigating the matter, but in the meantime, I have created a support case on your behalf and also reached out to your VAR. Please work with them in providing us a copy of your business process (.xml file) so we can review it.

Hi Alexander,

Thank you for your prompt reply. It'd be great if we could get the original process model back as it was rather complex and included two sub-routines. I'd hate to have to try to recreate it along with the five forms.

For what it's worth, we're scheduled with our VAR to upgrade to version 10.1 tomorrow morning. Should we hold off on that, or will that not impact this process?

Thanks,

Michael

I don't believe upgrading to Forms 10.1 will impact the issue as it currently stands (negatively or positively). If you send us the xml files for the affected business processes, we will review them and may be able to provide you with a "fixed" business process xml that you can upload back into your system.

I'd exported the XML file prior to placing my post. Would you like me to send it directly to you, or wait to hear from my VAR? If to you, how would you like me to send it?

You can upload it to ftp://ftp.laserfiche.com/incoming and I'll grab the file from there.

Thanks. I'm trying to connect to the ftp link you provided. The URL won't resolve in the browser and it's asking for a username/password on my ftp client.

Via the client I was able to get to ftp://ftp.laserfiche.com/, but when I try to enter the "incoming" folder I get a 550 Access is Denied error message.

It's a blind drop box so you can use Windows File Explorer, browse to ftp://ftp.laserfiche.com  and then drag/drop the file into the Incoming folder.

This is what I get when I try via Windows File Explorer:

Don't try to open the Incoming folder. Just browse to ftp://ftp.laserfiche.com  and then drag/drop the file into the Incoming folder.

I gave that a shot. I didn't receive an error message nor a confirmation, so hopefully it's there.

Thanks!

Hi Alexander,

Great, thank you very much!

I was able to get the file from my VAR and have uploaded it. It's wonderful to have it back. For future reference, is there something I may have done which caused the issue, or anything I can do to prevent it from happening again?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

The issue appears to affect business processes that have multiple stages where there's also a subprocess in that stage. For your specific business process, we had to modify the "Submission" stage as that was the one with the issue. Do you recall what may have been done with that stage just before the issue occurred? That will help our development team determine the root cause.

Thanks

Hi Alexander,

If memory serves, I was connecting it to the second sub-process, so that once a user had submitted the training request, they'd be automatically routed to fill out an Out-of-State Travel Authorization form if they'd selected yes for that field in the Training Request form.

Thanks,

Michael

Looks like it just happened again, while doing roughly the same thing. I'm going to reload the repaired XML and then remove the second sub-process and just build the necessary path in the main process.

On a related note, I'm not able to delete the business process for the old Training Request form. It states: The form "Training Evaluation" is used in this business process and cannot be deleted. [LFF345-CannontDeleteFormInUse]. I can't remove the from from the business process because it can't be accessed. So, how do I delete the broken business process?

The error for not able to delete the process may relate to there is an Save To Repository Service task in one Sub Process. It is a bug for Forms 10.0 and we will include the fix in the coming update for 10.0. Can you temporary keep the broken business process?

Apologies for jumping right in, although I'm strangely thrilled it's happening to others.

Same thing happened to me. I know my VAR opened a ticket this morning.

My issue was also related to a multi-step process with a sub-process.

I assume the current work-around is to not use a sub-process?

No worries Colin.  I didn't encounter any issues until I added a second sub-process.

The issue is related to change the position of sub process and position of objects in the sub process at the same time and save. We are working on a hotfix which will address this issue now.  The hotfix will be available in coming two weeks. Please avoid changing position of sub process and position of objects in sub process at the same time before the hotfix is available. Thanks.

Alexander,

In regard to the fixed form you sent me, I was able to upload the form, and everything seems to be there. Whenever I submit one the “Thank you” page states that “Your submission cannot be previewed at this time. Then when I go to look at the Instances in Progress, the instance name is blank and the error log states: "There are no event details associated with this process instance."

Any suggestions of where to look to fix this?

On a related note, we upgraded to 10.1 and I was then successfully able to delete the previous, broken versions of the form.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

I checked your process and found it is caused by a table variable with no name. Please go to the variable tab of any form in this process and set a name for this table variable and save. That will fix this issue.

Shan He, just thought you should know that the links you provided are broken. Either they're incorrect, or the article has been removed.
