Question

Moving Laserfiche Repository Users for Directory Server users

asked on May 12, 2016

Good day all,

I would like to move our users from the Repository Users based to Directory Server Users (Windows Accounts).

The issue I have is that once I created a new account all the tasks assigned to that user and the history of the user are not shown.

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to move the tasks and history to these reflect under the new account?

Thanks

Ian

The user SIDs change when you move the user from the repository to Windows Accounts. See this thread on remapping old user IDs to the new ones. A known-good backup for the SQL database and stopping the Forms service are strongly recommended before any direct modifications to the database.

Actually the SIDs for the Windows user(in format of domain\username) is not changed between Laserfiche Server and Directory Server since they are all grabbed from Active Directory. The tasks assignment and history should be able to be kept.  To migrate fro Laserfiche Server to Directory Server, you should add the Windows Active Directory user in Directory Server first, then change the user authentication for Forms from Laserfiche Server to Laserfiche Directory Server.

Hi Xiuhong,

I understand your answer but I am migrating the users in small batches so I can't change the authentication which will affect all users.

The reason I am moving them in small batches is I have multiple workflows and lookups based on user names etc. and the admin involved in changing them before anyone is affected is easier to maintain.

Hi Miriam,

The link you posted is exactly what I was looking for. I migrate batches of users  and then run the SQL script, change some other custom SQL tables and the users don't even notice.

Thanks all,

Ian
