We have forms setup on the server but we want to have certain admin users be able to access the forms (create new, edit etc.) from their machines or laptops. Is there any way to give them access like this without an SSL?
Question
Question
Trying to use forms on user machines without SSL?
Answer
Can they log into the repository using their Windows accounts through e.g., the Client from these machines? If so then it may be that Forms and the Laserfiche Server are not syncing.
- Go to the Forms Configuration page and find the user configured to access the repository in the "User Authentication" section. Verify that the connection is valid.
- Then test whether this user can log in. If so, go to the Administration > System Security section and check whether the other accounts appear in the list of users. Then manually synchronize using the button on that page.
If the issue persists after these checks, you may want to consider opening a Support Case for the customer for further troubleshooting.

Hi Nick,
I'm not sure what exactly you are asking for. Users should be able to connect from other machines by navigating to the Forms URL in their browser (e.g. http://<machine_name>/Forms or http://<fqdn>/Forms, etc.). If the concern is to restrict the non-admin users from being able to create forms, etc., you can consult the Help File for basics of configuring security in Forms.
Hope this helps; if not, could you expand more on what your question is?
ok, I was able to get them to the login page but they keep getting username and password is incorrect? they should just be using the same credentials they use to get onto their machines? they are setup in laserfiche through their active directory as windows accounts. Nothing seems to be working. is this because they may not be setup in configuration portion you mentioned above? it looks like that is something that should sync automatically though so what else would be the cause?

ok, It was not working because the user that was setup in the configuration page was the admin that was setup during the install, but it's no longer valid since it was taken off as a named user. I added one of the users in there and they were able to login. I went into the admin section and made the users in question process creators. This appears to be working now. One of the users was not able to get in on his laptop, but I did have him try to get on the mobile app and tried his user on another machine that was a desktop and he was able to get in just fine. I'm assuming that is a firewall setting on his laptop? I think ports 80 and 5150 need to be open if I'm not mistaken? but overall this is fixed. thanks for the help, james!
Hi Nick, glad to know I was able to help with the original problem.
The default Listening and Notification ports for the Laserfiche server are 80 and 5051 (not 5150). If they have changed these from the default (e.g. during install) you can check the ports in use from the "Server Settings" node of the Laserfiche Administration Console. Forms does not have its own ports to worry about; for reference this page has a list of all the default ports needed for various Laserfiche products.
hmmmm yeah we are certainly having some odd issues with sign in. I just got an update. so, there are 4 users that I gave all the same properties, which was process creator. only 2 are able to sign in on their machines. As stated, I originally thought It was related to the laptop, since I was able to get the one user in on another machine which was a desktop machine. but, the other user that is able to get in on his machine is on a laptop, so that kind of throws a wrench in my thinking. So, two users can get in: one with a laptop and one with a desktop, and two users who cannot: one with a laptop and one with a desktop. but, once again, I was able to get a third user in, just not on his laptop. so it's acting very odd. I know you mentioned earlier about things not syncing correctly, could this be the issue? There really aren't any other setting that would cause these users the sign in issue on their own machine? I guess running a repair on forms could be a good step if nothing else. I know this is running into a support case at this point so I may have to go that route. This probably seems a little confusing and convoluted.
