Document Metadata using Quickfields/Import Agent

asked on May 9, 2016

Hi

Q1>How can I extract the metadata of an electronic document using Quickfields/Import Agent?

Metadata : Author name (creation date/modified date is available in QF)

Q2>Import agent has subfolder option to copy the folder structure from external drive, how can we achieve the same using quickfields?

Thank you.

The author information is not available in either Quick Fields or Import Agent.

Quick Fields offers a path token for files scanned through Universal Capture. You can use it to set the path in the repository (and subfolders will be created if the user has rights to do so when documents are sent to Laserfiche). Pattern Matching can be used to remove parts of the path if they're irrelevant to you.

Inorder to achieve this, which QF bundle would we require?Could you please  advise on throughput that can be acheived with QF? Which component would be faster , IA or QF considering import and assigning field values from token.

Thank you.

Pattern Matching would be included in any "validation" bundle or it could be outsourced to Workflow where Pattern Matching is included. Getting the modified date through Universal Capture does not require any bundles. The difference between IA and QF would be hard to quantify based on the information here. It's probably a matter of what else could you have them do once you buy one or the other.
