Question

Customize toolbar in Web Access

asked on May 5, 2016

Is it possible to customize the toolbar in Web Access.  I have created my first custom action so now a new toolbar item is displayed.  But this toolbar displays a dropdown where I can select my custom action.  I want to be able to put my custom action itself on the toolbar.  I know it is only saving one click but we have to do this dozens of times a day so it would be really nice to have it on the main toolbar.

Currently in order to execute my "Refresh" custom action I need to press the Custom Action icon and then select the Refresh option.  I want to be able to select "Refresh" directly from the toolbar.

I also added the custom action to the context menu but even there it shows up as a sub-menu option.  It would be nice to just have my custom action on the main context menu.

Not in the current version, but it's a top enhancement for the next major release of Web Access. Definitely agree it's more awkward this way. We're also separately looking into having a native refresh button or an enhanced notification system so ideally this particular button won't be relevant anyway.

Thanks, looking forward to the version which has this enhancements. I especially like the idea of having a native Refresh button.  It is likely to be much faster and cleaner than the F5, assuming it won't cause the "flash" that F5 causes.

In the upcoming 10.2 release you will be able to fully customize what options are available on the toolbar.

Is there a way to hide toolbar options, such as New Folder or New Document?  I haven't found a way to apply security that hides these options.

The buttons are fairly dynamic. If you have the rights to add new folders you'll see the button, but not if you don't.

If you want to hide the button from users that do have the rights, your best bet is to move the button into the overflow menu as a default option for all users. They can still see and use it, but at least it won't be on the toolbar. This is in the Options menu, Tools, Defaults for All Users. Drag the New Folder button from the "toolbar" area to the "more actions" area.

Pieter,

We have moved the icon out of the main toolbar display, as you suggested.  What access rights allow a user to add a new folder?  I have looked through them and didn't see one that was clearly applicable.

Thank you for your response-

Geez, I completely missed that setting. I was focused on the Options and User/Group security.

Thank you!
