Question

Disable open or save dialog in Internet Explorer - Web Access

asked on May 5, 2016

Hi,

We have a client trying out Web Access and they are generally happy with it except for the behaviour of IE when opening certain file types.

There are a large proportion of emails stored in the system which IE tries to download as msg files as you'd expect. The issue is though that each time a user tries to open an email they must first download it and then choose to open the download from the IE download notification window. They see it as an extra step compared to the desktop client.

I appreciate that this is behaviour controlled outside of Laserfiche, and that this behaviour seems to be different depending on the version of IE also, but have any other users experienced this as an issue and maybe found a workaround. We're looking at registry and group policy options but wanted to explore all avenues. Word files seem to use a Laserfiche Web Access control?

It seems that in Chrome at least we can choose to trust certain file types but IE is less flexible it seems.

Thanks!

Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

Unfortunately Office Web Apps do not support displaying .msg files, so we can't embed them directly into Web Access 10.1 like we now can with Word or other office files. (To the question of why it's different from Word)
