Prevent the Thick Client from Opening a New Window for Each Search Result

asked on May 5, 2016

Hey guys! Is there any way to configure the thick client not to open each search result in a new thick client instance?

For example, I run a search and get five results, all of which are folders. When I double-click one of these folders, a new instance of the client opens. That gets confusing when you're exploring a few different search results, because you are left with lots of open client instances, and you're not sure which one to use.

Not a huge deal, but I was just wondering if there is a way to tell the client not to open a new instance for each folder-based search result. Possibly an attribute that I can set? Thanks!

This isn't currently possible, but as a workaround you could copy the path of the folder and paste it in the location bar. I realize this is no less annoying, but the reason it opens the folder in a new window is so you don't lose your place in the search results. We could look into adding another option to the context menu.
