Laserfiche Crashing when Emaiing Documents with "%" in File Name

asked on April 29, 2016 Show version history

We have an issue when emailing documents - links and copies. On certain documents, those with a "%" in the entry name, Laserfiche completely crashes - "Laserfiche Client (32-bit) has stopped working". Does anyone know anything about this issue and a possible workaround that includes the '%' symbol in the file name? Does this have anything to do with Laserfiche token interpretation?

I am able to generate emails successfully using Client 9.2.0.343 for documents with a % at the beginning, middle, or end of the name. Can you provide some more information to make sure we're trying the same thing?

  1. What is the exact version of Laserfiche Client?
  2. What are some example document names?
  3. Are you sending pages or electronic files? (and if electronic files, are they word docs, pdfs...?)
  4. How many documents are you emailing at one time?
  5. How big are the documents?

Hi Brianna, thanks for replying.

1. Version: Rio 9.2.1 build 673

2. Some examples include:

-106054 SLRTC 90% Quality Assurance Architecture Title Sheet

-413101 SBLD 60% Specifications 2015-01-12

-413101 SBLD 100% Design Comments 2015-06-25

For reference, we have tried moving the '%' symbol around, but failure occurs on a very consistent basis regardless of placement.

3. Failure occurs when attempting to send either LF links or copies. We have not tried it yet with individual pages to my knowledge.

4. Failure occurs with single or multiple entries-We have tried as high as 10. In all failure cases 1 or more of the documents included have had a '%' symbol  Documents are various and mostly include PDFs, Excel workbooks and Word Docs.

5. Documents range in size from a few dozen KB to a few dozen MB.

Thanks for the additional information.

I tried again with your sample document names using the same version, and was still unable to reproduce, so it's at least not just the document names. It seems likely to be something specific to your setup, such as the version of Outlook you are using, or something about these documents other than the name.

If you remove the % from the name completely, does it succeed?

Either way, you may wish to open a support case with your VAR, since troubleshooting will likely involve a further questions to pin down your particular setup, and you may need to provide sample documents in a briefcase.
