Page removal not working due to dirty images

asked on April 29, 2016 Show version history

I'm trying to use page removal but it is not working well due to blank pages coming in with black around some of the edges. I could raise the bytes but I don't want to risk losing pages I want to keep. It's set at the default 3000 right now. Is there a safe number to go up to for this without risking losing pages I want to keep? Any other setting within scanning that could get rid of or diminish those edges coming in black, or is that more of a scanner issue making that happen? Trying to find a good middle ground here and want to know what you guys have found best for something like this.

Thanks,

Nick

It's hard to say what would work without seeing the image, but try the Border Removal process to either crop of fill in black borders. The scanner itself might also have settings for it.

what scanner is it, and how do you ahve it configured?

We have mostly Fujitsu, and all the blank pages come in as white.

Do you have the paper size set correctly?  Sometimes the "Auto" settings for scanners don't do such a good job.

I've also seen issues with older scanners where the bulb is getting dim and it can show up like dark areas.
