How to turn off Link Annotations in Web Access 10.1?

asked on April 28, 2016

This is a simple setting in the desktop client, and it could be done in Settings in Web Access 9.x, but I can't find a way to turn off Link Annotations in Web Access 10.1. The help file has the exact same instructions for doing this in both the desktop client and in Web Access, which I believe is a mistake since the "main menu" mentioned does not exist in Web Access:

https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/userguide/#../Subsystems/client_wa/Content/Annotations/Linking_Annotations.htm%3FTocPath%3DLaserfiche%2520Client%2520and%2520Web%2520Access%7CAnnotations%7CCommon%2520Annotation%2520Actions%7C_____5

Can I get some guidance on this?

Thanks - Jim

Hi Jim,

We removed this option in Web Access since we didn't have a clear use case these days as for why you wouldn't want to link annotations and have been trying to consolidate our options and settings a bit. Can you expand on the reason for why you'd need this option? (Or is the issue just that the documentation implies it's in both in which case, yeah, we'll get that fixed).

Thanks for the quick reply Justin. We have found that many clients get frustrated with linked annotations because once they're placed on a document, they can't be moved or resized. So if they don't place it exactly right the first time, they have to delete it and start a new one (as opposed to just resizing/moving the one they just added).

A good number of our clients, while understanding that not linking means redactions on documents will not transfer to the text, still like to have it turned off for this very reason.

Thanks - Jim
