Web Access 10 & Scanning (Entry Locked)

asked on April 28, 2016 Show version history

I have tested this on 6 different users/computers an all have had the same result. All users have upgraded to version 10.1 LF Scanning.

Users are scanning in documents then storing like usual.  However, once the document has been stored from the scan interface the document is immediately showing as being locked.  Under the admin console it lists locked by as the user.

User then has to close down the scan interface before the document will unlock.  Seems to only be a problem when opening Scan within Web Access.  I could not recreate this issue within client.

Has anyone experienced this?  I also checked with the previous scanning version 9.2 and still had the same issue.

Hi Ramon,

To be clear, do you see this while scanning new documents into a folder, or while scanning new pages into an existing document?

I can reproduce the behavior you described- documents scanned into Web Access (through standard mode) are locked until Scanning is closed. I believe this is the correct behavior if you're scanning pages into an existing document, as it prevent another user from altering the document while the scanner operator loads more pages into the scanner.

However, I agree that when scanning into a folder, Web Access should release the lock before scanning is closed, since additional changes will not be applied to the last scanned document.

We filed an bug report for the issue (SCR143650). We'll look to fix it in a future release.

Hi Ryan,

Yes I'll clarify that this behavior was the scanning of new documents into a folder from Web Access through standard mode, not scanning pages into an existing document.

I would also like to clarify that this only came about after upgrading Web Access from 9.2 to  10.  However, it did not seem to matter if the scan interface was 9.2 or 10.1 since both versions of the Scan produced the same results.

Is there any update on when this may bug might be addressed?  We are trying to transition our users from the client to Web Access but this bug is continually coming up as a nuisance to the end user because they frequently have only a few documents to scan in at one time or another.  Having to continually close out to make sure the workflow starts on each document is time consuming.

Hi Ramon,

We're looking to include the fix for this issue in the upcoming Web Access 10.1 hotfix. The hotfix is scheduled for release in June.

If you require an immediate hotfix, please talk to your reseller about opening up a support case with our Laserfiche support team. Include the URL to this thread in the case request.
