I see that Web Access 10.1 advertises the ability to "open both PDFs and Microsoft Office documents directly in the document viewer" but I'm struggling to get that to work, for Office documents at least.
I have set the option to open electronic documents in the viewer (via my Web Access settings) but it just seems to load the viewer page which states "Document contains no pages" and offers a link to view the electronic file, which just opens the document in Word.
Is there something else that needs to be set or installed for this to work?

View Office document in document viewer - WA 10.1?

Hi Nigel,
Viewing Microsoft Office documents directly in the document viewer makes use of Office Web Apps. Organizations that have the Office Web Apps server can hook Web Access up to that in the Web Access configuration page and that will translate and host office documents for viewing.
Information about how to enable this is on the General Services page in the Web Access administration help. Information about how to view the Office documents in the doc viewer (once it's been configured) is in the Configuring Document Viewer Panes in Web Access section of the User Guide.
Here's the page for Office Web Apps Server: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219458.aspx
From what I'm reading:
1. You can’t install other server applications (such as SharePoint 2013 or SQL Server) on the same server as Office Web Apps Server.
2. The Server OS must be 64-bit. Use 2008 R2 SP1 Standard, Enterprise, or DataCenter
3. Or, the 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter
4. Or, The 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2012 R2. To use this operating system, you must use Office Web Apps Server Service Pack 1 (SP1)
5. Cannot be installed on a Domain Controller.
6. Must be part of a domain.
7. Do not install any version of Office on the Web Apps Server.
8. Don’t install any services or roles that depend on the Web Server (IIS) role on port 80, 443, or 809
9. Office Web Apps Server is only available for download from the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC)
10. You must have a license, under a Volume Licensing agreement, for Office Professional Plus 2013, Office Standard 2013, or Office for Mac 2011
It sounds like this isn't going to fly on a demo laptop...
What is the Laserfiche Web Access site that can be remotely accessed to use for live demos, or recording a demo that could be played on a demo laptop?
Found the Web Access Demo site:

WHAT IS THE LOGON?
Hi Bruce,
There's currently a configuration issue with the Web Access on webdemo . We're working to resolve that issue. I'll update this thread with when it's working again.
Any timetable on availability of the Web Access demo site, as well as the logon credentials? Thanks!
Hi Bruce,
The authentication issue for Webdemo should be resolved. As for the Office Viewer in Web Access, we're still working on configuring. Currently, our IT team is working to set up the hardware for hosting OWAS.
On this point...

I don't believe this is accurate based on the following technet article, which indicates for VIEW ONLY rights (which is what WebAccess would be exercising), you don't have to have Volume Licensing. That doesn't mean you don't have to have an Office license, it just means it's not required that you obtain your Office licensing through the VL model. Of course... that doesn't solve the challenge that it appears to be available as a download through the VLSC only!
