Repeat Time Feature Question

asked on April 27, 2016 Show version history

In Forms 10 there is the option for a Timer Catch Event that when "Do not interrupt the attached activity" is selected that you can check the "Repeat timer until attached activity is completed". I need some clarification on how the different times work together for that activity.

In the main part of the activity settings, you can tell it to "Wait" "For" "x" amount of days. When you also tell it to repeat the timer, you get another setting called "Interval" and can set it for "x" amount of days. How do those 2 settings play together?

If I just wanted the time to send a reminder email every 2 days if the activity is not completed, what are the correct settings for that?

The main part "wait for" determines the first time that timer is triggered; while the "repeat timer interval" is used to calculate the next trigger after the first one.

So in your case, the settings would be wait for 2 days and repeat every 2 days.

The repeatable timer is an escalation timer, so it repeats after the wait period is over. You would need 2 separate timers. The first one for the the X amount of days you want to wait for the activity to be complete. This one wouldn't repeat. The second one would be the "deadline" timer set to only wait for a minute and then repeat. This one would be the one that repeats every 2 days and goes to send the email.
