Forms qualified domain name login

asked on April 21, 2016 Show version history

So about 5 days ago, Forms started to not authenticate using their normal windows username.  We usually log in as domain\username.  Now however, it only seems to take username@domain.

We planned on moving Laserfiche and Forms to a new server so we didn't really troubleshoot.  After the move though, the issue continues.  All the users in the Directory Server, Admin Console, and Forms Config show as domain\username.  The domain section on the Forms config page also shows what we want.  We can also open the full client, uncheck Windows Authentication, and user domain\username to log in successfully.

Anyone know why this happens or how to change it?  We are using the initiator or user tokens in various processes along with pattern matching and it is coming across different now.  Also users wish to use domain\username instead of the fully qualified (even though single sign on is in the future)

Is the server joined to a different domain than your users?

Basically, if your Windows domain section is configured correctly in formsconfig, you should not need to provide the domain at all. You should only need username. The formatting for this configuration should not be the FQDN of your domain and should only show be domain part of your domain\username login.

Correct, just our normal domain is in there as it should be.  Before it stopped working we had to have the domain\ in the usernames.  Does not working with either no domain in front or with.

I ran into this after we upgraded to LF10.

In the end all we had to do to fix the problem was to temporarily change the Directory Server service account, restart the service, switch it back to the original, restart the service again and we were good.

In this case I actually just used my own login as the temporary service account.

Hope that's all it is.

Thanks Boris, we tired that as well.  Stopped the service, switched to another account, restarted, switched back, and still no go.

Can you open a support case for this so that we can trouble shooting with your environment? We are not able to reproduce this issue internally. Please check what error get logged in the event log when you use domain\username to login.

Did anyone find a solution to this? I am experiencing the same issue after upgrading to Forms 11. I have re-installed Forms 11 with no luck. I have also noticed that all users who were prior to upgrading to 11 can sign-in without having to specify the domain. All new users after the upgrade are required to enter the domain\ in front of their username. I have looked at the logs and it's says user name or password is incorrect when it is indeed correct.

Your Forms server is configured to "use Laserfiche Server authentication"?, have you checked whether the windows domain is configured in the User Authentication tab from Forms Configuration site?
