Question

Attach a Repository Document to a Form

asked on April 21, 2016

Dear,

In laserfiche form 10.1, we are able to attach a Repository Document to a Form.

Any one have any idea about how we can use this new feature.

I appreciate your help.

Regards,

Toni

Posting my use case here as this is a pretty important option

Use Case:

We have users using embedded forms for invoices.  They have the invoice open in WebAccess and a verification form they fill out on the right hand pane.

* User fills out info but needs to get it "approved".  This usually means they need some info to finish verification from someone else.

* The approver get the task but approve through email as they are mostly not in the office so they do not have access to the Laserfiche repository (even though they are a Participant user).

* The email they get notifying them of the task contains any of the info on the form... but they need to see the invoice to answer the approval question which is why I want the Laserfiche document as an attachment.

* User simply opens the attachment, figures out the answer, and hits reply with the approval choice and comments.

I don't see a way to accomplish this other than sending two emails, one from Workflow with the invoice attachment followed by the Forms task email (which doesn't seem all that great)

Hi Toni,

It seems this feature has not been supported in Forms 10.1 yet, although we are planning to adding support it for feature release.

Did this happen to make it into Forms 10.2?

Unfortunately, Forms 10.2 does not have this feature yet. However as Julia has mentioned, this feature is available on the Laserfiche Mobile App. As Julia also mentioned, you just need to make sure the user has the adequate rights, such as exporting, and you are logging into both the Forms Server and repository during that session.

Do we know if this feature will make it into Forms 10.3?

Just checking in.  Would like this option as well.  Don't see it in Forms 10.4.  Is it in 11?

Hi Xiang,

I just tried to open a form from the mobile and I found that I am able to upload a Repository Document.

So it is feasible into laserfiche mobile and not into laserfiche forms?

Toni

Hi Toni,

Attach document from repository is a new feature in Laserfiche Mobile 10.1, it is not a native feature in Forms 10.1. With this new feature, you can get a copy of document from the repository along the process to let others to review the document or use as reference.

for which type of users?

Hi Dory,

As long as the logged-in user has logged into both the repository and Forms server in Laserfiche App, and if he has the export right to the file that he wants to attach to the form, he will be able to attach that file to form.

Fingers crossed this feature makes it into Forms 10.3.

The request comes up regularly from our clients. A recent use case was as follows:

1. User completes a risk assessment form (financial services)

2. Form routed to compliance officer who obtains a background check/report via an online service which is stored into Laserfiche via Snapshot

3. If they wish to attach this report to the form they must currently export the document to a Windows folder prior to attaching it to the form which seems a bit of a backward step.

Thanks,

Nigel.

We prefer to have the features in different options:

- Attach the document from the repository in different formats such as email attachment feature or the export feature.

- attach it as a link to webaccess.

- Attach it as a link to weblink. (Weblink users should also be able to attach the document if they are using participant user).

thanks,

Dory

Do we have any update on this? Currently our users are having to put documents onto their desktops and then attach them to the form or drag and drop from the repositary.

When ideally they should be able to access the Repository using the upload function. This also means that documents are saved twice at the end of the process.

Is this feature implemented in v 10.4.5?
It has been about 5 years since this post

It is not supported yet as the effort for adding this feature is big and we keep pushing it back.
