What will be a recommendation (best practices) Laserfiche Users Account vs Windows Accounts.

Windows accounts are nice for a variety of reasons. They mean one less password for the users to remember (since it just logs them in using their Windows credentials), and you can also set up Active Directory synchronization so that if an employee leaves the company, Laserfiche automatically frees their named license so you can allocate it to someone else.

I would also suggest Windows Accounts because in a RIO environment your Windows accounts can access multiple repositoryies (if desired).

I think Directory Server allows regular named users to access multiple repositories too, in version 10. I remember something like that from the conference.

That's true, but I would still suggest Windows Accounts. If you're talking about internal users, logging into your company's domain with Windows Authentication as the first thing they do every day and accessing various other resources that way, then one single password is easier to manage. It also makes it easier if you need to lock the account for any reason.

If you have external users who will never need to log into your company's domain and only access your repository, then Laserfiche (global or repository) users is probably the better approach.

You don't need a password if you are using AD. Once you get to the Laserfiche log on screen, check the 'Use Windows Authentication' box and you are in.

A plus for the Laserfiche repository users is that you can log on as the client and see what that see (and what they can't). This really helps when trouble shooting security issues at all security levels.

Currently the set up is for internal users and they use domain accounts. Once the Laserfiche prompt on screen they check 'Windows Authentication' box but that doesn't mean they have windows account correct?

If they get into Laserfiche by checking Windows authentication then yes that does mean they have a Windows account.  It just could be a Laserfiche user tied to a Windows account or just a straight Windows account.
