Question

Quick Fields manual separation

asked on April 5, 2016

Hi,

I had an interesting question from a prospective client regarding Quick Fields processing. They asked if it was possible to scan in documents to single page tiffs where 1 page = 1 document, and then asked if there was a way to manually combine them if they found it necessary. I know that this isn't what Quick Fields was designed for, but I notice that the shift and the control buttons do not work for selecting multiple documents. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

It might be easier to do it the other way around if more documents are more than one page: scan them as one big document, and split them from the thumbnail view.

Yep, you can accomplish this in Quick Fields. Simply click and drag a document in the Document Revision pane and drop it on top of the document you wish to combine it with.

Correct, it's not possible to manually merge more than two documents at a time.

Out of curiosity, do you know the reason that this client wants to do it manually instead of using automated identification? Is there a feature we could add to identification that would meet their needs?

If identification is not an option and combining one document at a time is prohibitively tedious, you may want to look into Document Merging Options  to see if maybe those can be used to accomplished what they're looking for. Another option might be scanning into bigger groups of documents and then using 'split' when needed.

Thanks, Tessa. Can you confirm that it's not possible to combine multiple at once?
