Question

Server will not start due to failed login- Help Please

asked on March 30, 2016

I took over the Admin responsibilities for a location but was not given any of the laserfiche info.

I was needing to change a users password but was not able to login to the server running laserfiche. I could see that the last login was user the user name laserfiche but I didn't have the password for it so I reset its password in active directory and now the laserfiche server service will not start due to failed login.

Can someone please point me in the right direction to resolve this.

If you reset the password for the account that the Laserfiche service is running as, you'll need to update the credentials in the services control panel.  Run "services.msc", select the Laserfiche Server entry, go to the Log On tab, and add the new password.  Then you should be able to start the service.

That worked great Sir, Thanks a ton!

I can see the user that needs their password changed under "Named Users and Devices"

I do not see a change password option though, is there something I am missing... or should I post a new question if I can't find it while googling?

I'm not sure what you mean.  A new question with a screenshot is probably the way to go.

Hi Ronnie,

As with Brian I'm not quite sure what you mean, but taking a guess... if you're referring to the user you changed the password for in active directory in the original question, you don't need to do anything else on the Laserfiche Server side to match that. It automatically references AD to authenticate and will automatically be using the new password.

If you're referring to a different repository user account defined on the Laserfiche Server itself, you need to sign into a specific repository and go to the users and groups section of that repository to change the password. The global named users and devices node is solely for licensing at the Server-wide level, but doesn't cover the actual properties of the user - you need to sign into the repository for that.
