Question

PDF Pages imported end up with Black Marks

asked on March 28, 2016 Show version history

We currently scan documents in using Paper Vision a third party scanning solution. Once the documents are in a network folder, the user will import into Laserfiche. At the point when they are in a network folder they look perfectly fine.

Once it is in Laserfiche the document appears with random black marks all over the page. It almost looks like a redacted document. (see attachment)

Another thing is that this happens intermittently.

Has anyone seen this before?

This is a known issue with the 3rd party component used to extract images from PDFs. The pdf contains images with an encoding that is not currently supported. The workaround is to use Snapshot to generate pages. The bug id for your reference is 138230.

Thank you for this, this option works well.

Another thing I just found out is that scanning in color was causing this issue.

If there was color, such as Highlighting on the page, this would cause the black dots on the page.

Is this still a known issue? I would like to generate pages without separating the original pdf...

The original issue is still not fixed, but you might be seeing a different issue. Which version of the windows client are you using?

Using Web Access 10.2 (update 1)

Ok, we are still waiting for this to be fixed in a 3rd party component.

Does anyone know if Bug ID 138230 has been corrected as I am experiencing the same thing on Laserfiche Version 10.3.1?
