Each browser has their own plugin architecture.  When you install scanning (or Office plugin, or the digital signature plugin) we install an ActiveX control for IE as well as a Chrome extension and a Firefox plugin.  They all provide the same functionality of reporting to the page which versions of the plugins are installed.

Yes, when using Internet Explorer, Web Access uses an ActiveX to detect whether Laserfiche Scanning is installed and then launch it.

Thank you Miruna, but what about other browsers? Noting the same behavior occurs while using Google Chrome and Firefox for example.
