Forms Background Image not displaying from other computers

asked on March 16, 2016 Show version history

I'm using the URL in "Themes" for an image background for the body of the form. I created the form and thought nothing of it, tested and looks great. Final stages of deploying the form my customer said he does not see the image. In further testing, he is correct. It only displays when viewing the form on the Forms server. The URL points to a JPG image file.

Is there a specific spot the URL has to be? I tried putting it in the C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\img\Theme directory but that didn't make a difference.

I also read the thread https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/88532/Form-Background and tried hard coding it into CSS but that is for the entire webpage - I need just the body.

Has anyone came across this issue? Just wondering where the file needs to be stored if it's a permission issue.

Thanks

One way is to place the image into the Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\img folder. Then specify the image URL as http://yoursite/forms/img/yourimagefilename while making sure that URL is one that can be accessed from the computers users will be using to fill out forms.

What's the background image URL they are using? Is the URL accessible from the other computers and not just the Forms Server? If you open a web browser and just put that URL into the address bar, does it display the image?

It's just a local path. I assumed Forms would take that and incorporate the image into the IIS website of the form. So if it needs to be in a path that anyone can access, do I have to put the image within an IIS folder?

I did as above, I can browse to the actual image by URL, but when I open the form, image does not display. I have put the image in the Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\img folder.

Its almost as if the account used for the app pool doesn't have access to it, could that be it?

Alex, any idea? This is holding up them from making the Form go live a week ago. Thanks

A lesson learned to make sure you're on the starting form when changing the URL of the image. I was changing my 2nd form and testing the starting form. Once I realized this and updated the first form people can now see it. Good to know that it requires a full URL and not just a file path.

Thank you!!
