Question

Search Catalog on Network

asked on March 15, 2016

Is it ok to move a Search Catalog to a network storage area? Laserfiche Services will have read/write access to it or does the Search Catalog have to be local to where the Full Text service is installed?

The Laserfiche Full Text Service will need to have rights to the catelog location.  However it should not be a problem to have your SEARCH folder wherever you need it to be.

Hi Zainab,

Ideally you want the SEARCH catalog on the same server as the LFFTS service for best performance. That's not to say that you have to have it there, but you will see a hit in performance if the link between the LFFTS service and catalog has any issue/restriction.

One thing to bear in mind, the LFFTS service doesn't have to be on the same server as the LF server. So if space or resource is an issue, you can move the LFFTS service onto another server with more resource/space.

Hope this helps! smileyyes

Just wanted to know if the search performance is affected.

I don't think it should be a problem unless there is some kind of restricted bandwith between the Laserfiche server and the server where the catalog is going to reside.
