Question

Task participants from email variable

asked on March 9, 2016 Show version history

I'm trying to iron out the process model for a leave form. The form needs to be routed to the submitter's supervisor. In the form, there is a "supervisor email" field, but when the task participant is set as that variable, nothing happens. What do I need to do? All the supervisor needs to do is read the form and click either approve or reject; they have no other reason to be in forms.

Thank you for your help.

The Task Participant must be in the form of a Domain/Repository Named user or Participant user which has an associated email address and will allow the form to be routed. An email address can't be used for this purpose. You can still use a variable, but the variable must contain the account name of the recipient.

Just to clarify on Chris's comment, if the supervisor it needs to be assigned to has a Laserfiche account that is setup as a named user, the variable needs to be in the format of domain\username. If instead the supervisor's account is setup as a participant user, the format needs to be in the format of their email address.

If you have a mix of supervisor's where some have named user licenses and some have participant licenses, you can assign both to the same user task. The one that they do not have will throw an error in the event viewer, but it can be ignored.

Does your supervisor a named or participant user configured in forms?
