Question

Import XML for Windows Account In Admin Console

asked on March 4, 2016

Am I missing something when I try to import Windows Accounts between repositories in the Admin Console?  I go into my Dev repository, select the Windows Accounts I want to replicate and export the XML.  I go to my Test repository, right click on the repository name and select Import Repository Objects.  But then I go into my Window Accounts section and those accounts never show up.  I have even closed and reopened the console.

What step am I missing?

Thanks.

I did a quick test using Laserfiche Server version 10 and Laserfiche administration console version 10.

RepostioryA in ServerA contains windows acct1 and acct2, export into an xml file, then go to RepositoryB in ServerB which already contains acct1 (all in one single domain and same Active Directory Server), then through Laserfiche Administration console I choose to Import Repository Objects, browse to the xml file and select option "Create new objects only if matching objects do not exist" .

Under windows account section in RepositoryB it display the acc2 , acc1 as I mentioned before already exist.

What version of Laserfiche server are you using?

what option do you select from drop down list "Conflict Resolution Import Options"?

What is the size of the xml file?

How many accounts are included in the xml file ?

As quick test, you can try to export only one windows account in an xml file, then confirm if importing a single windows account works or not.

It might be possible that SQL instance that host the Laserfiche Repository Database was over loaded, therefore the request to import the xml files and create the accounts was put in queue by SQL. Once the SQL instance was available to run the request to import the xml file to update the Database, then the accounts got created. There are other several reasons why this might happen.

If the issue happens again, I suggest you contact your reseller who can submit a case with Technical support.

For Laserfiche Technical Support to troubleshoot the issue please make sure to provide a copy of the Application and System event viewer log file from the Server machine. Use the Laserfiche Administration console that is installed at the Server Machine.

I am on Admin Console 9.2.

There were only 4 groups in the XML and the size is only 3KB.

And I am using the Import option: Create new objects only if matching objects do not exist.

I checked my list first to make sure someone else did not create them and they were not in the list anywhere.

I tried again with the same import option and got nothing but when I change the import option to Update existing objects or create new objects - it worked.

Is it possible someone could have created them but I wasn't able to see them?  I am an admin on the system.
