Question

"The time-stamp authority profile was not found"

asked on March 3, 2016 Show version history

My client posted this question about an audit trail error here: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/91755/Import-Agent-9-issue-with-timestamp . The answer they received was to install the audit log timestamp into theor laserfiche server install. We re-ran the install and slected modiy, but no option for "audit log timestamp" comes up to be selected. I found this manual page, but it doesn't sound like they are referring to the same thing since it doesn't talk about it showing up in the admin console: https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-us/administration/Default.htm#../Subsystems/LFAdmin/Content/Audit_Log_Verification_Utility.htm . Does anyone know where I can find this component to add to laserfiche?

I assume your customer doesn't actually want to use audit time-stamping. If so, they should disable it. Please check the contents of the dboptions table in their repository's SQL database. Do you see rows where the optionname column contains either VERSCompliance or AuditTimestamp? If so, delete those rows and restart the LFS service.

Thanks for the response. My client would like to know the implications of doing this, does this in anyway mess up the ability to keep audit data on those entries?

This will not impact collecting audit data itself. You can confirm that entries are being audited in the Laserfiche administration console. There's an auditing tab under individual users and groups, as well as the everyone group to apply to all users in the repository. Since auditing was already happening, this should already be configured.

Hello,
I can't find instruction on how to add the missing component, because my customer does want to use audit time-stamping. Please provide detail on how to add this. It does not appear to be part of the RIO install package. We do not see an option to add it either in a full install or in a modify. I don't see it as a separate download on LF support. There is another post where this question is asked, but there is no answer.

Thank you.

Second this question from Danielle. If there is no installation package, nor place to modify the settings, can anybody provide a way to change the settings of "audit time-stamping"? As for now the system keep reporting errors for this issue and looks really bad.

Pointing LFS at a timestamp authority is covered in the documentation here.  What's not made explicit is that we don't provide a timestamp server, we provide the capability to integrate with one that you already have or have access to.

Thank you. I did see how to do it but the problem for me and others seems to be that we don't see a tab called Audit Log Verification. How do we enable this?

Sounds like this feature has been hidden since 9.1 and not available; disabling is only viable option. Request to update online documentation has been submitted.
