Forms Portal DMZ

asked on March 3, 2016 Show version history

We have a Rio Deployment.  We are trying to install a Forms Portal instance in the DMZ.  We already have Forms working in the intranet, collocated on our Laserfiche Server.  We have service ports open to Domain controllers, to SQL and to the Laserfiche server.  Our Participant licenses are assigned to the Portal instance of Forms.

We are unable to sign into forms.  Invalid user ID or Password.  We can Authenticate to formsconfig using the local admin user and password of the Portal server.  It is as though the Authentication is not being passed on from the Portal Instance of Forms to the Intranet Servers; AD, or LF.

Has anyone benched up this portal configuration and documented exactly how this needs to be configured?

I would think this should be as straight forward an install of Portal as you can get.  Documentation is full of Summary and theory and no details.

You mention AD, so I assume you're trying to login using Windows credentials. If that's the case, then that won't work, since your DMZ and your internal network are on two different domains. (There are ways to get it to work, but they're all pretty messy.)

Are you able to login with the admin credentials of the Laserfiche repository that your Forms server is hooked up to?

No the Admin account in the repository cannot sign in either.  One question I have is should we be trying to login to the Forms instance of the Portal or the instance inside the intranet?  From the portal server I can sign into the website of the internal Forms server using AD credentials.  We have all of our Participant licenses assigned to the Portal instance.  We cannot get into the Portal instance to assign any access rights to any of the forms though.

use the account that was used in the initial configuration for Forms in the FormsConfig - repository page

If you are on a Rio environment, I would also suggest making sure your Forms Portal server can talk to the License Manager server. I've run into situations where licensing issues manifested themselves as "username or password invalid" errors.

Other than that, this sounds like something Laserfiche Support should take a look at. Your reseller can open a support case with them.

We did open a support case, and we were informed to contact presales because it was a "how to" issue, not a support issue.

what are the messy ways to get it to work?
