Question

Disable version comments

asked on March 2, 2016

We have a client that has versions enabled. They want to NOT have to enter a comment each time. Is this possible?

I don't think so since whole point of creating versions is to go back to previous versions using comments, removing them would make no sense. But it would be interesting to find out if you could.

Version comments are not required, so they can always be left blank. I am not aware of a way to turn off the prompt for the comment, if that is what you were asking for.

No there is not a way to remove them. As Brianna notes, they are optional. Can you provide more information as to why the customer wants to remove them if they are using versioning in the first place?

I have users that want to turn them off because they are editing many documents during the course of a day and believe it will take up a lot of time simply leaving the comments blank and clicking the okay button on the forms. They love everything else about versions and otherwise it fits their conditions perfectly.

Just giving an example of my circumstances.
