Question

Android App crashes every time I use it

asked on February 29, 2016 Show version history

I am using Laserfiche mobile V.10.0.0 on my Android phone (Samsung Note 4 running Android 5.1.1).  Every time, and I mean every time, I use the app, it crashes, even when just browsing folders in my respository.  It crashes hard too.  I use the report option within the android system every time I try to use the app.  And by crashing hard I mean, once I report it, it continues to prompt to report the crash on average about 10 times before I can get back to my home screen by hitting my home button.

Hello Scott,

Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention. We are currently looking into the issue on our end.

In regards to what you're encountering, you can perform a force close on the Laserfiche application, and this will prevent the error message from prompting multiple times, rendering you unable to use the Laserfiche app. To force close the app, you can simply press the "Recents" button to pull up the "Recents Screen". Navigate to your Laserfiche, then swipe either left or right, to force close it.

Or you can go into Settings > Apps > Laserfiche > Force Stop.

Let me know if this force stopping still does not allow you to properly start the Laserfiche App. And as mentioned, in regards to the app crashing and prompting the error message multiple times, we are currently looking into it. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Andrew

Thank you for the response.  I am able to stop it, but wanted to let Laserfiche know of the issue mostly.  I will also try it on other android devices I have and let you know if I get the same behaviour.

So I tested it with 3 other android devices that I own.  One is a Samsung Core Prime phone running android 5.1.1 and Laserfiche 10.0.0 and it works fine.  The next device is a BLU Studio Selfie phone running Android 5.1 and Laserfiche 10.0.0 and it works fine.  The last device is an Alcatel OneTouch P310A running android 4.2.2 and Laserfiche 10.0.0 and it works fine.  So it seems isolated to my Galaxy Note 4.

Just to let you know that LF Mobile 10.1 for android did not end up working any better on my Galaxy Note 4.  I have come to the realization that it is just my phone.  Like I said in an earlier reply, I have other android devices that work fine.  Good news for me, I am planning to get a new primary phone in a few weeks, so hopefully I don't have the same issues.

Similar Android crash with LF Mobile app v 10.1.0 was solved:

On Android device, go to "Settings", "General", "Application manager", "Laserfiche", choose "Force Stop" then "Clear Data", "Uninstall", reboot Android device, then reinstall Laserfiche Mobile App.  When opening the LF Mobile for the first time, the "Sign in" window now appears...

DEMONSTRATION NOTE: For a private network, before entering the "Server URL", connect your private Wi-Fi network, then switch back to LF Mobile and complete the Server URL, Repository, etc.

Devices tested: Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, model SM-P600/android v5.1.1 & Note 2, model SCH-I605/android 4.4.2

VM: VirtualBox 5.0.24r108355 w Guest Editions installed using Network Adapter set to "Bridged Adapter" in "Promiscuous Mode: Allow All" on Windows 7 64 Bit OS.
