Configuration of ImportAgent profile - Document not saved in LF repository

asked on February 25, 2016

Hi all,

I have configured an ImportAgent profile but the document is not being saved in the repository. Please see attached document for the configuration. In the General tab, I have also tried the 'All Files' options and still it does not work. Is it because of the path length for the Monitored folder being too long?

Please note that most information has been masked.

Thanks to advise.

Kind Regards,

Sheila

Hi Sheila,

Can you describe how Import Agent isn't working? When a new PDF file is created in the monitored directory, is Import Agent attempting to act on it? Meaning, does it try to import it, but fails, and moves it to the IAError folder? Or does the PDF just remain in the monitored directory?

If it doesn't look like Import Agent is acting on the document, then make sure that the Import Agent service account has access to the network location you're using as the monitored directory.

If the PDF is just ending up in the IAError folder, then check the application event log on the server where Import Agent is installed to see any errors possibly being reported.

Hi Alexander,

ImportAgent has not acted on a document when placed in the Monitored folder. The PDF just remain the Monitored folder.

"If it doesn't look like Import Agent is acting on the document, then make sure that the Import Agent service account has access to the network location you're using as the monitored directory." Can you please clarify on this? Can you please advise how I will check this?

Do you mean that the Windows user should have access on the network location? Infact, the user was unable to drag & drop a document on the network location. Then, the Write access from WIndows security was granted.

You'll need to go into Windows Services and see what account the Laserfiche Import Agent service is using. Make sure the account is a domain account with rights to the monitored directory.

Hi Alexander,

Yes the log-on account has been granted access to the monitored folder and it works!!! Thanks..

Now, I have used a time schedule for the ImportAgent to run at a specific time (for e.g: from Monday to Sunday @ 12:00 AM) but the document has been imported to LF repository well before 12:00 AM.

Thanks to advise.

Kind Regards,

Sheila

Hi Sheila,

After our CFW, it turns out that documents were also moved into the IAError folder because the Import Agent service account did not have access to the folder where the successfully imported document needed to move to.

If you set the time schedule from Monday 12.00am to Sunday 12.00am, Import Agent will continuously monitor the relevant folder during those times. In this example, you would be monitoring 6/7 days, only Sunday would not be monitored by Import Agent.

Hi Cathy,

Yes thanks loads. It is much clearer to me on how Import Agent handles the import of documents. Will it be problematic if multiple time intervals have been defined? For e.g: I had one which runs on Monday (00:00) to Sunday (00:00), another one on Monday (12:00) to Sunday (12:00), another one on Monday (08:00) to Sunday (08:00).

Thanks to advise

Kind Regards,

Sheila

Having the following schedules in the same profile:

  • Monday (00:00) to Sunday (00:00)
  • Monday (08:00) to Sunday (08:00)
  • Monday (12:00) to Sunday (12:00)

Is essentially the same as:

  • Monday (00:00) to Sunday (12:00)

As there are overlap periods in the example you gave, I recommend you combine them instead. If the intervals don't overlap, then there is no problem having more than one schedule.

Yes it is same. Then, it would make more sense to create another schedule as from Sunday 12.01 am to Sunday 11.59 PM in case the user wants Import Agent to import files immediately within this interval
