Question

Remote Scanning via Quick Fields

asked on February 25, 2016

Hey guys! I have a Quick Fields infrastructure question...

Let's say that Quick Fields is installed on Machine X and that the Laserfiche Server is on Machine Y. And let's also say that Machine X and Machine Y live in entirely different physical locations, inside different networks. Has anyone tried using Quick Fields in this type of scenario? If so, I'd be interested to hear people's feedback on how well it works.

I'm sure that it's possible to set this up, either by creating a VPN or by opening ports on the Laserfiche Server. However, I'm concerned about the network-related complexity of getting this to work, and also with how slow the storing speed might be.

Thanks!

VPN would work. If you're not setting up a VPN, then you'd have to open port 80 on the Laserfiche Server to the outside world. The storing speed would depend on your connection speed.

Thanks Miruna! We tested this out (over port 80) and it works great. The initial authentication handshake is slow, but (as you mentioned) that's likely due to the connection speed on our end. Awesome to know that this is a viable option!
