Question about thumbnail size

asked on February 24, 2016

My client would like to know if it's possible to increase the size at which laserfiche displays a thumbnail. Currently they know the limit is 1MB(for the client, weblink, and webaccess(8.x)). Is there a way or setting that can change that to possibly 10MB?

Under View > Thumbnails will allow you to adjust the view size of the thumbnail.

What version of LF is this screenshot from?  I am seeing something different when I click on view and I have had users ask for a similar functionality.

That's actually for the thumbnails displayed in the folder browser in thumbnail view. It does not apply to page thumbnails in the document viewer.

I'm the customer referenced above.

The issue is one of my repositories is not displaying photos larger than 1mb in a thumbnail, but as a place holder icon instead. If the photo is less than 1mb it displays properly in thumbnail view.

The repository was upgraded from 7.2 to 8.3 many years ago, but we just started importing JPG files this last year. I've sent a copy of my database to LF Support, but it would be helpful if someone else has had this issue and knows how to fix it. I'd like to have it fixed before we upgrade to LF 10.

It looks like you are importing the JPG files as electronic documents instead of Laserfiche documents/pages. Is there a reason for that? If you don't need them to be electronic documents, then in the Client, you can go to Tools > Options > New Documents > File Conversion and add "jpg" to the extension list. This way when you import JPG files in the future, you'll be able to view them in the document viewer and the browser thumbnail view should display them properly.

*Edit*

For the JPG files that were already imported as electronic documents, you can set a new attribute on the Everyone group named [SETTINGS]MaxEdocThumbnailSize and give it a value (in bytes) like 10000000 and then the next time users log into the repository using the Client, they should be able to see the thumbnail if those JPG electronic documents (up to 10 MB in size).
