Machine name in Filter Expressions

asked on February 24, 2016

Hello,

I'm curious if there is any option to use the Machine Name in a Folder Filter Expression, something like:

context ('machinename') = 'PC01'

My case is that I need to restrict the access to some confidential files to be viewed by several people but ONLY from a dedicated PC. I need each user to login to the Repository with her/his own account (to be able to track her/his work using Audit Trail), but they can only see those confidencial documents if they do access the Repository from my dedicated PC: if they open the repository from their desk the folder should not be available.

I guess Filter Expression could do the job, if there is a token for 'MachineName' = x

But if someone has another way to get the same result, I will really appreciate it!

Thank you and best regards,

Laserfiche does not support referencing the machine name in folder filter expressions, but I can see the potential value here. We will consider how to support this in a secure manner in a future version.

I can't think of any workaround or alternative means to achieve this type of restriction with Laserfiche without building a custom program that downloads the data from Laserfiche and then decrypts it using a key that's securely stored on that computer, and only on that computer (with a backup stored offline). This would potentially be secure, but it does involve some programming.
