Ricoh connector questions

asked on February 19, 2016 • Show version history

Hi, we are trying out the Ricoh connector and I have some questions

  • Dynamic field are picked from the LF template or can be done directly from SQL? I want to know how it is going to show the metadata list field.
  • Is possible to prepopulate data from the scanner? Fox example, we don’t need to user to input the field Scan Date when the scanner can already do it.
  • Authentication. How does that work? Would users need to type in their windows credentials? We currently have a swipe card that retrieves username and password from Ecotrack, this is a server application to which all our follow me printers connect. Would the LF connector be able to use ecotrack or is there any way it can retrieve those credentials?

The credentials are not stored in the card itself, they are stored in the server. But the scanner is getting them at some stage so maybe there is a way of storing them locally for LF connector to use.

Thank you

Gian

1. Dynamic field is supported. You just need to configure the dynamic fields in LF template in the Laserfiche Admin Console. It is the same way to show the dynamic fields as Laserfiche Client.

2. Currently if user wants to set the field Scan Date, user needs to manually set the token %(Date) to that field. Or an administrator user could configure the Quick Scan settings on that MFP, and in the Quick Scan settings, the Scan Date could be predefined with the token %(Date). When user scans document, user does not need to enter the token again if user selects the quick scan profile to run. The token is already there.

3. Now users have to type in their windows credentials to sign in. Single sign on feature will be considered in ricoh connector later version.
