Quick Fields Inverting Colors

asked on February 18, 2016

Quick fields is inverting the colors of a PDF.  This seems to be related to KB Article 1013636.  When I apply the hotfix, this does not apply.  It appears that this is because my installation is installed on the E:/ drive it does not find any Quick Fields files to update within my C:/ drive.  I can confirm it is not updating anything because my version does not change in quick fields.  Please help, this is causing errors in my production system.

Thanks,

Nate Barker

it says on KB page "Extract the contents of the zip file to a temporary location on the machine where Quick Fields 9.0 is installed". Did you run the hotfix from e: drive where your QF is installed. Second options could be that you install QF in c:, then apply hotfix and then copy updated files to your e:

A Support Case has been opened to look into this issue; we will update this thread with the results of our investigation when complete. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We were able to recreate the issue with a sample PDF provided by the customer. For reasons yet to be determined (related likely to the way in which the problem PDFs were originally built) the engine which Quick Fields uses to generate TIF pages from the PDF does not want to play nice. Notably if the pages of the PDF are generated before processing in Quick Fields via the Laserfiche Capture Engine, and Quick Fields is set to use the existing pages, this issue does not occur. Bringing the PDF into Quick Fields using Universal Capture, however, results in the same inverted-colors behavior.

A ticket has been filed to look into this issue, meanwhile we aim to work with the customer to identify any commonalities among the problematic documents to expedite finally resolving the issue. As we are uncertain as to the root cause of the issue, we cannot comment at this time whether this will be addressed in the upcoming release of Quick Fields 10.

To be clear, this is not an issue with all PDFs. It would seem that in most cases, it is unlikely to occur. However, if you do have PDFs which seem to be experiencing this behavior in Quick Fields, try importing into the repository and generate pages (with the sample document, there were no issues generating pages from within the Client context menu, automatically on import, or using Import Agent) before processing with Quick Fields using the Laserfiche Capture Engine.

Thanks Junaid, this actually did work to get the version updated.  Unfortunately it did not fix the issue with inverting colors.  Has anyone else had this issue?

Here is a copy of the session config:

Here is the scanning settings:

It seems to alleviate the issue when I un-check the 'Generate Images for each page' but I cannot have the final file be in PDF.  It needs to be view-able from WebAccess without having to download the file time.
