Question

Forms using windows Authentication

asked on February 16, 2016

User on Rio is able to access everything but Forms via windows authentication.  They are getting invalid username / password.

They are set as an Administrator in Forms to make sure rights to Forms wasn't an issue.  Is there any settings within LFDS that would need to be adjusted for that user?

Note:  Most other users have success with their Windows accounts.  So I am looking at this as an issue with the individual account.

Is this a new install of Forms or an upgrade? Is Forms configured to use LFDS for authentication?

Upgrade from 9.2.1 to 10 recently.

Correct.  But the issue I see is there are two separate repositories.

The Repository set in the Forms config for User Authentication is not the same repository the user is primarily accessing.

The AD domain controller and Windows domain are set correctly.

Would there be any issues with a different repository?  Or will the config take the AD information for any repository on the server as long as the user is licensed in the LFDS.

Forms (Trustee Account) is configured under each repository.  Not on the LFDS.

So...are you saying this Windows account is not trusted for login to the repository set up in Forms Config?

Not the account is not trusted to log into Forms period.

Invalid username / password.  I think of the error coming from access rights to Forms.

The user is licensed under the LFDS and has Admin rights in Forms.  I was trying to look at other avenues that could be causing those full rights to still be denied with Windows authentication.

Forms authentication works by logging the user into the repository specified in the configuration to check if they have a full named user license.

Check the event viewer (under Applications and Services Logs) for the complete error message.

Correct.  so if the company has two repositories they use with Forms,  and the config is set for A.  But the user is added to B.  So we just need to make sure they are also added in A so they get Forms access.

Since the config is setup through A.

Or is there a way to setup for multiple repositories?

Wanted to update.  I added the user from Repo B also to Repo A and had them test a login to Forms and they are able to get in and see what they need.

Luckily this was a Rio system with a LFDS domain account.  I will be easily able to add the users where ever since it is only looking at the 1 license within LFDS.

This was an upgrade from Forms 9.2.1 to Forms 10.

The biggest question it seems is if you are trying to use one Forms application with Rio.  Can it only be tied to one repository for user access.

Multiple Repositories exist in their system but they all use the one Forms application.
