Question

Import Profiles launched in V10.0

asked on February 15, 2016

In the actual version, we can decode the document name and push them to tokens and use them for the Laserfiche document name and in the path.  However, I have not seen the ability to use these tokens and assign them to metadata fields.

Is there a way to do it right now or is this going to be done in the next revision?

Hi Daniel,

Right now you are correct that the filename tokens are only used for the path and name. We're looking into expanding it to fields, but do not have a specific timeframe. Keep in mind that import profiles are intended for front-end pre-import operations only, you could always do something like what you suggest in QF or WF as well.

Hi Connie,

If you don't define filename tokens (or just define one with no delimiter to cover the full name), it should use the source file name by default. Also you should be able to use all the normal tokens in the filename. It's true that field tokens aren't part of import profiles at present, as I discussed above with Daniel's question.

I am interested in this ability as well.  We have 30+ staff in LF but only six scanners centrally located, so no one uses a scanner directly attached to their computer at their own desk (front-end pre-import?).  I have been playing with the new Import Profiles in LF10 and love the idea but am frustrated that there is not a token for the original name to use for the new document in LF or the ability to tailor more tokens.  It's actually less complicated using all the old ways to import.  Would love to be able to use tokens for the name and to be able to set some of the field data within the templates used in an Import Profile that I've created for a very specific use.  If I could preset some fields and then use those fields as tokens in the name, I could save some people some time bringing in some of their common documents!  smiley
