Question

File type folder is not supported

asked on February 11, 2016

Good morning.  We just upgraded to Forms 10 yesterday.  And we notice something new.  If I try to drag and drop an outlook message that was on my desktop to the upload field in Forms, it does display the file name, however, I also get the message above the file 'File type folder is not supported.'  (See attached sample screen shot)

It appears to be an Informational display error as the Forms tasks continues and the file is readable by others.

If I use the 'Upload' button instead of dragging the message file, it displays the file name without any additional errors.

I have tried Chrome and IE with the same results.

Hi Jason,

I have spoken to the Forms development team and they are aware of this error message. This will be fixed in the upcoming release. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Thank you.  So, it is just a cosmetic error?

Hi Ming-Iun,

Has this been updated? I'm running Forms 10.1.0.579 and I also get this error.

Thanks

Sheldon

Hi Sheldon, did you get this error when drag and drop a .msg file? I can't reproduce it with 10.1.0.579 which do reproduce with 10.0

Hi Xiuhong,

I'm using FireFox and I get this error when I drag and drop an email from Outlook 2013 directly into the form field.  If I use Chrome to do the same, it just doesn't let me do it at all. I'm not dragging a MSG file from Windows.

Exporting from Outlook directly into the browser is not currently supported. You need to save the file locally first, then upload it to the form.

That said, the message is incorrect for the action and we'll look into it. Thank you for reporting it.

Hi Miruna,

Any chance this can be fixed to allow Outlook attachments (eg PDF's) to be dragged and dropped into a Laserfiche Forms File Upload field?

We have recently changed from Lotus Notes to Outlook. Lotus Notes did allow only 1 attachment to be dragged and dropped into the LF Forms Upload field. Outlook doesn't allow any. I was surprised by this, as the Microsoft programs usually integrate pretty well. The error I receive is slightly different: "One or more uploaded files are invalid.".

Our Users here will be attaching many different pdf files where they are received in an email and do not want to have to save them locally, then import to the Form form that local specific Windows location.

I haven't seen Outlook allow dropping attachments into browsers' drop-zones.
