Question

Laserfiche Plus

I have a client who is trying to load a Laserfiche Plus CD, using version 7, when they install the CD and select click to launch they get the following error message;

I am not sure if it is to do with the fact they are using windows 10? any help would be appreciated.

Hi Harvey,

'Officially' Laserfiche 7 isn't supported on Windows 10. Here is a list of supported configurations for Laserfiche 7 - https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1011814

I'm assuming that the CD is actually a CD writer, and they can successfully 'burn' CD's from another application?

This error message would also imply that they don't have any documents selected to publish?

Hope this helps point you in the right direction! smileyyes

The problem here would be that Plus installs an older version of SQL.

1) To use a Plus 7 CD on a newer OS, you have to manually install SQL Server Express using an instance name of LFPLUS and attach the exported SQL db to it.
2) To use the LFViewer from a hard drive and access all of the documents from various CD's, you will need to modify the cd.ini file to point to the local paths.

The easiest solution would be to republish the CD with the latest version of Plus that will run on the new OS and uses SQL Lite instead of Express.

Thanks Ray I am trying to get the prospect to buy a full version of Laserfiche, so would it be possible to take the plus databases and attached them to a Laserfiche Avante?

The volumes on the Plus 7 CD are basically exported volumes.  You can attach the Plus volumes to a newer version on LF just like you would any exported volume.
