Question

Create a new document from the thumbnail and keeping the metadata of the document in WA10

asked on February 4, 2016

When you create a new document by selecting the page from an existing document from the thumbnail in Laerfiche Web Access 10 it does not keep the metadata template like it used to in Laserfiche Web Access 9 and in the Laserfiche client.

Is there an option to enable that in Web Access 10?

These is a very usefull feature, because you can split an existing document keep the same metadate and just change a field, say the document type...

Thanks

This issue was addressed and fixed in Web Access 10.1. Creating a new document from a page of another document now retains the original metadata in the new document dialog.

Am I missing something here?  I am on Web Access 10.1.2.286 and I still don't have the ability to create a new document from a page of another.  I can right click and either cut or copy the page.  But if I cut it I have to have another document already made before I can paste it in.

Thanks.

In WA 10.1, select the thumbnails you wish to create the new document from and then right click and select the Copy (or Move) Pages To option. Instead of clicking an existing document, choose which folder you wish to create the new document in and then select paste. It should ask you if you'd like to create a new document within that folder with those copied/moved pages.

Thank you.  I was still looking for a New Document option.

Hi Simon,

You're right- the metadata isn't retained by the split off document by default, as it should be. I filed a bug report (SCR139998) for the issue. We'll look to restore this behavior in an up coming release.

Thanks for making us aware of this!
