Question

PDF with generated pages results in two email attachments.

asked on February 4, 2016 Show version history

I have a folder that contains shortcuts to both PDF files and Laserfiche documents.  I have generated the pages in the PDF and am noticing if I have workflow email the contents of the folder I end up getting two attachments for the PDF.  I think the issue is because I have generated the pages it's picking up the document as an electronic document AND an image document.  Is there any way around this?  Thanks, Sandy

Sorry - I was wrong - this isn't fixed.  If I have a PDF or any other document that does not have generated pages when I turn off "include electronic file" any file that doesn't have generated pages is sent as a PDF with a blank page.  Back to the drawing board.

How should I manage using workflow to email a mixture of document types within a folder (native file, LF docs and native file with generated pages) to avoid getting duplicates when a doc has generated pages?

Thanks!

How about using 2 email activities under a Conditional Decision, one in each branch -  first branch for docs with no e-doc component (check Include Images As), second branch for docs with e-doc component (uncheck Include Images As, check Include Electronic File).

I am having this same issue.  I have a situation where multiple file types can be uploaded.  PDF, PNG, JPG, DOC, etc.   There is no combination of "Include images as" and "Include electronic file" that will attach all of the files without creating duplicate PDF's or not include all attachments.  Workflow seems to be treating PDF files as images.    I don't want to have to create two different emails to include all attachments.

That seemed to work - I was thinking if I didn't include electronic it wouldn't send the PDF without generated pages but it did.  Thanks!

Just did another test - if there is an Excel file in the folder - it sends it as a PDF when you open it - it's just a blank page.

Is there any workaround for this situation where multiple file types can be uploaded as there is no selection available for combination of "Include images as" and "Include electronic file" that will attach all of the files without creating duplicate PDF's in email attachments.

try to disable "include electronic file" and see if it still sends both copies.
