Does the global date stay static throughout the workflow?

This seems like a question I should know the answer to, but I have a workflow that has several delays and will span two to three days. After the delay activities when I choose the global date token, will the value be the current date that the new activity is processing or will it still be the same date that the global date token would have returned when the workflow started?

I am trying to determine the current date towards the end of the workflow for a decision about when to route a document.

The Date token is the current date when the activity using the token runs. For ex, say you have a workflow that has Set Field Value with a Date token, then delay for 2 days, then Set Field Value with a Date token. The first date will be the date when the workflow started, the next one will be 2 days later.
