Question

lf web scanning not loading

asked on February 3, 2016 Show version history

My client is having issues with LF WebScanning not opening in chrome but works in IE 11.They have reinstalled the scanning program several times, tried opening chrome as an admin, and tried clearing her cookies. There are no messages in the event viewer, and I couldn't find any other logs in /Program Files/Laserfiche or Common Files, or Temp files. Here is the browser and LF Scanning information:

IE:
Version: 11.0.6900.18161
Update Versions: 11.0.27 (KB3124275)
Product ID: 00150-20000-00003-AA459

Chrome:
48.0.2564.97 m

LF WebAccess:
9.2.1.568

LF WebScanning:
9.2.0.339

Is Web Access in an Iframe? Can you confirm that the user has the chrome extension installed from the chrome store?

No, just regular web access, not coming from any other links. But I have confirmed they do have the chrome extension installed and enabled. Version 1.3

What's the client machine OS?

Log into Web Access, hit F12 to open the browser console, and reproduce the issue. Do any errors pop up in the console?

Ok, here are the errors I'm getting when trying to click the scanning button in web access, on chrome:

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://wa.citiesdigital.com/laserfiche/index.aspx?db=CD164#id%3D3%3Bview%3Dbrowse' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure resource 'lfwa80://scanning/https://wa.citiesdigital.com//laserfiche/App_Services/Sca…a26-45da-b74d-afcf800f5c2c%7Cbbba9fcd-d4fa-4906-a0ff-442722b7abad&ci=en-US'. This content should also be served over HTTPS.

It'll throw that error because WA is using 'https' but scanning is launched with using the 'lfwa80' protocol. This is fine and expected, and should have any bearing on behavior.

At this point, I think you're best bet is to open a support case so we can troubleshoot the issue in more detail.

Is there any update on this matter?, I am having the same issue in an iframe with Chrome. I am using Web Access 10, it works fine if I open directly the laserfiche web page, but when I log through an iFrame , it does not find the scanner installed in the machine and asks to download again.

Hello Vitor,

I saw the post you previously put while searching for possible answers to your question. It looks like a Laserfiche employee replied and said they filed an bug report (SCR124885). You should contact them and ask if they have made a fix for it yet. Hope this helps!

I see. You mentioned earlier about NPAPI being disabled in chrome and that it was causing it not to work in chrome, but that you enabled it. I know that chrome now disables NPAPI by default, so maybe check if any updates have caused it to re-disable.

Yes, I checked, the NPAPI was removed from Chrome since version 45, so even if we want to enable it, it is not possible anymore. However, I opened a support case, and I found out, that it is a known issue, and in the next sp1 for webaccess 10 will be fixed. Thanks for the help.
