Question

Buffer time for client

asked on January 28, 2016

Is there a way to change the time out for loading documents in the Laserfiche client? There were network issues for a customer and the first page of the document would not load though the subsequent pages would load correctly with no issues. The customer ended up having the users use Web Access instead in order to mitigate the issue temporarily until their network was fixed.

The network timeout shouldn't have anything to do with this kind of behavior. Can you elaborate on what exactly the user was seeing?

The user was seeing the first page of the document in Laserfiche as could not load and the subsequent pages would load with no issue. This was in the thumbnail and the TIFF image. This was not happening to all documents. Only documents who had a large page count. In Web Access they were able to see the entire document with no issue. Unfortunately this was happening when they were experiencing network issues and they are not so I wouldn't be able to recreate the issue. If it does happen again I will open a case instead of a post.

Interesting that it would fail like that, do you recall what the exact error message was? I suspect it's actually a server-side SQL issue and the client happens to retrieve things in an order that causes SQL to be overloaded. If this is the case, changing network timeouts wouldn't fix anything.
