Laserfiche Forms Public Portal

asked on January 27, 2016 Show version history

How would I setup Forms so that the public would be using its own server and not have direct access to the main LF server.  We have installed LF forms using the Avante Forms Portal license on the main LF server.  They have another server that is meant for the public to be able to use forms as well.  Would I need to install forms on that server as well using the same license or could I use the Laserfiche Forms for Avante license OR do I need to install anything at all?

What we did was uninstall Forms on the internal server and then install Forms Portal on the Server that the public will be pointed to.  I was able to use the key again, so I guess uninstalling it deactivated it on the other server?  So as of now we will have Forms on the public server.  The goal is to have a form URL clickable that will send public user to the public server then have that public server point to the internal for the DB.  The last question i have about this is this:  Should I install the Forms Portal on the Server that the public will be pointed to?  If this is the case then we will only have Forms Portal installed on that server and will not have any Forms installed on the internal.  This is perfectly fine?

Note that the forms portal key is activation limited, while the non-portal key has unlimited activations. Basically you can install as many internal non-portal Forms servers as you want, but you can only deploy the number of Forms portal activations as you have licensed (generally 1). If you've already activated the internal instance for portal, but don't intend to actually use the portal functionality, you'll want to deactivate that, switch to using the non-portal key, and then you can install the external server as a portal.

When you purchase forms you get an extra Portal activation key in your license summary in addition to the standard activation key. You can use the standard key on your LF server and install with the portal key on your public server.
