We have been using Transparent Records Management and Quick searches in Laserfiche 9 to be able to read the OCR text for the documents in our demonstrations.

With Laserfiche 10, there is a new option for Within current folder. When the option is selected, the text is not searched even when shortcuts point to documents with the text.

Is this because the OCR text is associated with the original document and not the shortcut? Also would there be a way to search the documents associated with the shortcuts within the current folder?

I also have this question! What permissions are needed on the Records Management folder for the user group to be able to search the text via shortcuts in their folders and still not have browse access to the Records Management folders? Example: We have a contracts folder accessible to all employees to be able to search for contracts, these contracts reside in records management with the shortcuts in the user accessible folders. The documents are retrieved when searching via document name, but does not work for text searches. Please advise? Thank You

We have some Saved Searches where I think we learned the answer to this. Our "Search for an Invoice" is using some Within Folders parameters that only include the folders where the incoming invoices are stored and it only searches documents, not shortcuts. Therefore, if staff are looking for an invoice that is current (or recent), they will find it. If they are looking for an invoice from previous years that has been pulled into the Record Series folders, they will not... UNLESS, they put a checkmark on the Shortcut box. Then, the search will bring up all of them.

I think if you just added a text search to these (see below), this should work for you, should it not?

Has a solution been found for how to search "within current" folder and the original documents are searched in the records series folder, even with the shortcut in the regular folder?
